Spring 2008 Percentile Scores

The Stanford Achievement Test is a norm-referenced test, which means scores will fall in the following ranges:
23% Above Average, 54% Average, and 23% Below Average.  In comparing our students to national norm groups, you can see that the majority of our students scored in the Average to Above Average range on the tests.

Spring 2008 Grade Equivalent Score

Grade Equivalents show the grade level of students for whom a score is average or typical.  For example, a grade equivalent of 4.8   means that the child’s score is the same as what the average score of children in the eighth month of the 4th grade would have been if these children had taken the same test.

Grade Equivalents do not show the level of the test.  For example, a grade equivalent of 6.8 on a 4th grade test does not mean that the child can handle 6th grade work.  It means that if sixth graders took the same test in April, the typical score would be the same as that fourth grader’s score.
